Thud!

I finished the sequel to Night Watch the other day, it's called Thud!.

In this book, the watch commander Sir Sam Vimes is again the hero. He tries to solve a murder and keep the peace while dealing with racial tensions between trolls and dwarfs, adding a vampire to the Watch(against his will), remembering to be political, and getting home in time to read Where's My Cow? to his young son every day.
My adoration of Terry Pratchett knows no bounds. Thud! was funny, witty, and magical. The story was all twisty and just when I thought I knew what was going on Terry Pratchett threw something else in there and spun everything again!... But in a good way.
Nobby Nobbs is in this one, dating a pole dancer who has absolutely no self esteem. Sergeant Colon is there too, unwaveringly solid, if a bit slow. Carrot reminds everyone that he's a dwarf, even if he doesn't look it, and Angua reluctantly becomes sort-of-almost-friends with Sally the vampire.
There's creepy creepy murder too, let's not forget. And what may be an ancient curse that has all the dwarfs scared witless.
I enjoyed it. A ton.
If I was going to rate it I would give it a 9 1/2 out of 10.
Did I mention that there's a part where Commander Vimes start screaming the lines from Where's My Cow??
