Its about time, I mentioned this when the G5 iMacs came out, its obvious that this is going to happen, its a natural development of the iMac line. The evidence was there when the Cinema Displays were announced, the monitor support could clearly take a few heavier weight.
Its good news though, if only to save money. Also...

as much as others "stole" from apple I bet apple "stole" just as much from other companies. funny how macrumors failed to mention that samsung may be counter suing because apple might have used some samsung tech without asking as well.
oh well life goes on. None of theses multi BILLION dollar companies have any soul, they are just cold, calculating, heartless businesses. And for all the apple fanatics here, yes that INCLUDES apple. :o

yeah... and what about the past years when they have run the promotion and not added newly released product to the rebate? thats what i was referring to.
And this is why I say it can go either way. The release of the C2D mac systems are not dependent upon the rebate IMO. It might happen or it might not. My guess is that Apple is not releasing their new computers based upon when the rebate ends. They'll simply release them, and if they happen to fall within the rebate period, that's not necessarily by design. But it is our good fortune. :)

and what exactly is the gapless playback...I guess I missed that. Im a little disappointed by the conference...i mean the new iTV isnt even available until next year...blah
"Gapless" means no more little micro-pauses between tracks. You'd only notice it if you were listening to a live album or something like "Abbey Road" where the tracks segue into one another.

Sorry folks, but you act as if the Patent office was some kind of arbiter for what makes sense. It's not. The US patent office has granted patents for all kinds of nonsense: perpetual motion machines, exercise equipment of dubious value, healthcare devices that certainly don't work and...the peanut butter and jelly sandwich and toast (patent #6,080,436)!

Bottom line is that patents are in no way any indication of a first, new, original, worthwhile, creative idea at all. It is simply a method of establishing some kind of legal protection and as such is probably outdated as a tool or should be.

Who has room for two external displays on a desk that already has a 27" iMac?! Dual outs on the MBP would make much more sense, although achieving it may be more of a technical challenge in terms of GPU power.
ETA: Of course, having an external display connected directly and using the other ThunderBolt port for non-display ThunderBolt devices makes much sense, especially seeing as ThunderBolt devices can't be daisy-chained after a display. So I'm not saying the two ports don't make sense.Haha Ill make room ;)

x-box wasn't a money loser for that long. on the financial statements i think they had bing/live whatever in the same category making it seem as though they were losing money. recently they took it out.
microsoft had a gaming division that made money since the mid to late 1990's with some of the best games on the market.
the first x-box wasnt that big a seller as the PS and gamecube but it had a higher rate of people buying games and x-box live was a hit from the start.
same with the 360, it wasn't a top seller but people bought more games for it than for the PS or Wii. a lot of people like myself have a PS3 with no games because it's a killer media box and blu ray player. when it first came out at $499 it was the same price as a blu ray player. at $299 it's the same price as a high end internet enabled player but with better support and a hard drive to store data
i had the wii as well and only used it for the balance board. just like a lot of people that bought it. compared to a health club membership it was a killer deal
and with gamestop in the used business, it's even more profits for MS due to all the DLC that is sold now

Apple has a 10 day return policy if they updated a product you just bought within 10 days. They will give you a full refund, or cash difference if the price is lowered (which it is)

I think my next computer will be an Ivy Bridge MBA with Thunderbolt. My 2007 Macbook is getting a bit long in tooth.

I prefer to see the apps pulled. Some apps are best not available. Maybe we could add others, like the locations of the various whorehouses, and best corners for buying drugs.
It certainly doesn't hurt to add to Apple's No Porn standards.
This is not even close to the same as having locations of whore house or drug dealers. However I would guess the police might like to have these apps.
Where and what police are doing is a matter of public knowledge. Posting where they are is not illegal or going against some other standard.

Wanna bet that Napa64 is 100% identical to ordinary Napa, apart from the fact that the CPU is Merom, instead of Yonah? Since Napa is a platform, just chaning the CPU to something else would mean that the platform has been refreshed.I'm a little skeptical about Napa64 as well. go look at the pandora app. i don't see anyone complaining about that. This would essentially be the same thing except every song would be of your choice bc it's YOUR music.
Ok, I will complain. ;) I stopped using Pandora on my iPhone when AT&T began offering incentives to decrease 3G bandwidth usage (i.e. lower monthly bills).
Delivery of Pandora's stream also comes with the tradeoff of reduced fidelity and network interruptions, which I found barely acceptable for mobile application sans the bandwidth concerns above.
I also tired of the playlists that repeated with the free Pandora service and did not find it of enough value to myself personally to pay, especially if I was not guaranteed more variety of music.
That said, if you find Pandora useful, then good for you!

The data is stored on YOUR phone and YOUR laptop ... Apple does not have a centralized database with that data - it is all on your devices.

They should be kicked out of every place all the time. They are almost as bad as the Sierra Club. Liars, cheats and thieves -- they lie about everything, trick you into giving them money for a cause and spend the money on their ridiculous liberal agendas based on flat out falsehoods and lies.
I love the environment and volunteer twice a month for environmental restoration and preservation projects. But I can't stand the scare tactics of these types of groups that use junk science and fear to steal your money and make themselves rich and powerful.
